Dr Donald P. Chimanikire was appointed to the SEATINI board in February 2014. He holds a PhD in International Relations from Jawarhalal Nehru University, New Delhi. Donald is the current Chairperson of the Political and Administrative Studies Department and Senior Lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe. He is a board member at Poverty Reduction Forum Trust (PRFT), former Director of the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) (University of Zimbabwe) and former member of the Executive Committee of OSSREA. He holds various academic portfolios at the University of Zimbabwe. His research areas of interest includes international relations, international strategic studies, politics and governance, international political economy, gender issues, climate change and civil society. Chimanikire is an academic writer and creative thinker with penetrative ideas as reflected in 3 books, 17 book chapters, 4 upcoming book chapters, 7 academic journals, 6 policy newsletters and 2 national magazines to his name. His writing has greatly shaped the thinking of many scholars and influenced national policy in various demensions. Dr Donald Chimanikire’s vast and distinguished research, and leadership exposure at esteemed center of learning (University of Zimbabwe) and other civil society and research boards has been of critical importance to SEATINI.
SEATINI’s dream for a future world is one without war and violence. It is one where nobody needs to go hungry or thirsty, or without clothing, shelter, clean water, ample sources of energy, good health and education, and the higher pursuits of knowledge. It is a dream of a borderless world, where people move freely between climes and cultures, and where social structures, inclusion, culture and dignity give more status than consumer goods. It is a world where the benefits of the phenomenal advancement of science and technology are available to all, where these are applied to satisfy all the reasonable and sensible material needs of the world’s populations, where survival, access to basic needs and dignity are not dependent on paid labour
